Lynda Andes

June 18, 1947 — September 23, 2023

On September 23, 2023, Lynda Irene Andes peacefully passed away with her family at her side. She was born on Wednesday, June 18 in Washington DC to the late Douglas and Irene Howard. The family moved to the East Riverdale area of Prince Georges County where they raised not only Lynda, but her brother as well. Here is where her friendship with Sandy Bradley Bowser began on their first day of 2nd grade. Lynda graduated from DuVal High School and began working for Frito Lay as a Secretary. On Saturday, October 1, 1966, she married the love of her life, Lawrence E. Andes, Jr. From their love, three daughters were born, Leigh, Janet, and Mary. Lynda adored being their mother and left her job at Frito Lay to care for them full time. After some time passed, she went back to work first as a substitute Letter Carrier, then a full time Carrier for the USPS in Dunkirk. Her caring spirit was nurtured once again when her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. Lynda attended to her mother for 10 years before she passed from this life. Lynda retired in 2014 for the USPS. Retirement didn’t slow her down at all, it just gave her more time to travel to Las Vegas with her dear friends. In Las Vegas they would take in magnificent show after show and even try their hand in a game of chance. Her grandchildren are what brought her udder delight. She adored them and was honored to be their grandmother. Lynda leaves behind her husband, Lawrence E. Andes, Jr., daughters, Leigh Clark, Janet Smith (Robert), and Mary Andes; grandchildren, Stephen and his wife, Jessyca, Nicole, Nathan, Ronald, Keleigh, and Joshua. Lynda was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Douglas Robert “Butch” Howard, and parents in law, Lawrence Andes Sr., and Olivia Andes. In keeping with her wishes, her services will be held privately. Her family asks for donations in her memory to be directed to the American Cancer Society at www.Cancer.org.
