Margrette Loretta Nanney (Peggy)

Peggy Nanney, was born in Washington, DC on September 30, 1944. Peggy (81), of Morningside, MD, passed away April 6, 2026 with family by her side at The Hermitage At Solomons.

Peggy was a longtime parishioner of St Phillip the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Camp Springs, MD. A member of the Ladies Sodality. She was treasurer for many years. Making many lifelong friends. Working together doing work beneficial to the parish. Peggy worked at the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) for 37 years. Retiring on May 31, 1999, as the Chief of the Employment Branch. She took pride in her work and was recognized for her many accomplishments.

After retirement, she was the loving caregiver for her mother Melma for 19 years. Peggy showed much kindness and compassion for others, providing rides to doctors and comfort for many family members over the years. Helping neighbors with grocery shopping and meals. Setting a beautiful example for her family and friends. Following this example of caring, her cousins stood by her, during her time of need, it was an honor to spends this time with her. She expressed her appreciation constantly. Always asking how we were and expressing her concern. Her cousins, Joyce, Francis, Linda, Michelle, Anna, and (her favorite) Rosemary were with her through her illness.

Peggy enjoyed long rides in the country. Shopping at the farmers market. Keeping in touch with family and friends through letters, cards and phone calls. Doing cross stitching on plastic canvas and gifting them. Traveling for work and vacation.

Peggy is survived by many cousins and extended family members in Maryland, Mississippi, Texas, and California. She is preceded in death by her father Harold Nanney and her mother Melma Nanney. And by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Services will be held on April 16, 2026 at St. Phillip the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 5416 Henderson Way, Camp Springs, MD. Viewing will be at 10:00am. The mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00am. Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery following the mass.
