Mary A Beatty

Mary Ann Beatty, 89, passed away peacefully in her Owings home on September 21st, 2026. She was born in Washington DC on September 11th, 1937, to John & Ester Potter.

She married her high school sweetheart, Carl W. Beatty, in 1957 and they had 3 children; Carl, Steven, and Bridgette. Mary attended Bible college, but ultimately went to work for the Environmental Protection Agency. Mary and Carl loved to camp and took their kids every year on camping excursions with their network of police department friends. They loved to travel, and seized every opportunity to live a full life. Mary was involved at church and always remained part of a Bible study. They hosted all family get togethers for holidays, crab feasts, birthdays, and everything in between. She had a servants heart and was always willing to listen and give Godly advice. She enjoyed gardening, audiobooks, and quality time with loved ones.

Mary and Carl were the lifeblood of their family, the ones that kept everyone together and provided a soft landing whenever someone was in need. Mary was one of a kind, beautiful inside and out, and a true example of Christianity in action. She never missed a chance to share scripture or point to Jesus, often quoting her favorite,” we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”(Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭28‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

She is predeceased by her parents, siblings, the love of her life, Carl, and her beloved son, Steven. She’s survived by her son, Carl Beatty III; daughter, Bridgette Phelps; daughter- in- law, Rose Beatty; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and countless cherished friends and relatives.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 3rd at 11 a.m. at Calvert Grace Community Church in Owings, MD. Everyone is invited to lunch on site following the service
