Maureen Ann Gill

Maureen Ann Gill (née Keane) passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026, at the age of 84. Born to Edward and Margaret Keane in County Clare, Ireland, on August 25, 1941, Maureen spent her girlhood on the family dairy farm before embarking on a new adventure and emigrating to New York.

There, she met her first husband, John B. Smyth, a hardworking and loving man. Together, they were blessed with five children: John E. (Leslie), Scott (Amy), Michelle (TJ), Renee (Paul), and Nichole (Mike). Later in life, she found a wonderful partner in her second husband, John H. Gill. He was an amazing husband, and the two shared countless happy adventures, especially crabbing and fishing throughout the beautiful waterways of Southern Maryland, before his passing.

Maureen was also a deeply proud and devoted grandmother to ten grandchildren whom she absolutely adored: Jessica, Rebecca, Mac, Sydney, Isabella, Catalina, Mare, Paul, Meghan, and Michael.

Mom was a vibrant, beautifully stubborn, funny, fiercely independent, and always loving woman. Her bright spirit and unforgettable personality leave a profound hole in the hearts of all who loved her.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life at a viewing on July 9, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Lee Funeral Home in Clinton, MD. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
