The beloved husband of June Marie Spence; loving father of Debbie and Charlie Dinardo, Brenda and Mike Suchter, Laurie and Pat Pagliocchini, and Mel Spence, Jr.; grandfather of Kim, Kristina, Kellee, Eddie, Joshua, Brenda, Tricia, Patrick, C.J., Justin, Angela, Amanda, and Brittany; great-grandfather of Michael; son of Clara Hoag and the late Lon Spence; brother of Marie Sommers, Robert and Madeline Spence, and Joyce Hite; brother-in-law of Barbara and Vern Crocker.
