It is with heartfelt celebration of his life that we announce the passing of Michael Wayne Vito, a beloved father, friend, proud Marine, and dedicated craftsman, who left this world on August 17, 2026, at the age of 68.
Born on October 13, 1957, in Shenandoah, Virginia, Michael lived a life filled with passion, purpose, hard work, laughter, and love. He had a larger-than-life personality and a genuine appreciation for the people, animals, and experiences that made life meaningful. He loved life to its fullest and continued to embrace it until his very last breath.
Michael proudly served his country as a United States Marine. He enlisted on September 18, 1975, and served honorably until his discharge on November 9, 1977, achieving the rank of Private First Class (PFC E-2). His military service reflected the discipline, determination, and commitment that remained important parts of who he was throughout his life.
After his military service, Michael built a career as a self-employed contractor in the construction industry. He was not simply a contractor, but a true businessman who took great pride in his work. He loved building, creating, and seeing a project come together through his own hands. His skill, dedication, and integrity were evident in everything he did.
Michael made his home in Maryland, where he formed friendships that meant so much to him. He was a man who loved people and enjoyed the company of others. He was also a true lover of animals, showing them the same warmth and affection that came naturally to him. And Michael certainly had an appreciation for women-he loved women, enjoyed their company, and was never shy about letting the world know it. His personality, charm, humor, and zest for life made him unforgettable to those who crossed his path.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother Shirley Vito; his son, Michael Vito; and his daughter, Jacqueline Rose.
Losing his son, Michael, at such a young age was a heartbreak that Michael carried with him for the rest of his life. He never forgot his son-not for a single day-and the love he held for him remained in his heart until his final breath. Jacqueline Rose, too, remained a cherished part of his heart and memory. Though their absence could never be filled, Michael carried their memory with him throughout his life. There is comfort in knowing that he has now been reunited with his beloved children, together again in peace.
Those who knew Michael will remember his laughter, his stories, his hard-working hands, his love of animals, his appreciation for women, his friendships, and his unmistakable ability to live life on his own terms. He was a man who knew how to enjoy the moment and who refused to let life's hardships take away his ability to find joy.
In honor of Michael's life, family and friends will gather to celebrate the man he was and the memories he created. Funeral services will be held on [insert date] at [insert time] at [insert location]. All who knew and loved Michael are invited to come together, pay their respects, share stories, laugh, remember, and celebrate a life that was truly lived.
Michael's final resting place will be in Dunkirk, Maryland, at 10155 Ward Road, where he will be laid to rest and lovingly remembered.
Michael Wayne Vito was a remarkable and unforgettable soul. He taught those around him the value of hard work, the importance of friendship, the joy of loving deeply, and the courage to live life to its fullest. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will live on-in the work of his hands, in the animals he loved, in the people who knew him, in the laughter and stories he left behind, and most of all, in the hearts of those who loved him.
May Michael rest peacefully, knowing that he was loved, that he will never be forgotten, and that he is finally reunited with the son and daughter he carried in his heart for so many years.
