Patricia Jean Petrauskas, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026, after bravely battling ovarian cancer. Born on September 23, 1938, in Corunna, Michigan, Patricia was a beacon of compassion and dedication throughout her life.
Patricia was the beloved daughter of Basil and Ida Flynn and cherished sister to Marie Taylor (Gerald), Millie Mentus (Frank), Janet Franks (Ed), and Debra Harvey (Gary). In her youth, she met the love of her life, Raymond R. Petrauskas at Hurley Hospital in Flint Michigan where she was working as a nurse and he was an intern. They married on December 27, 1958, embarking on a journey of love and partnership that would flourish for decades.
Patricia is survived by her daughter Teresa Clark (Chris), Linda Petrauskas, Angela Howell (Roger), and Mark Petrauskas (Cindy). She cherished her grandchildren: Lauren Clark, Christopher Clark (Macy), Emily Howell, Bryant Howell, Hannah Clark, Kacie Clark, Mitchell Howell, Jack Petrauskas, and Evan Petrauskas. Her legacy of love continues with her great-grandchildren, Christopher Dean and Charles Clark. She was beloved and remained close with many nieces & nephews on both the Petrauskas and Flynn sides of her family
Though she faced loss, including the passing of her husband Raymond, her parents Basil and Ida, sister Millie, son-in-law Chris, granddaughter Lauren and brother-in-law Gerald, Patricia's spirit remained undeterred. Her treasured family vacations in Nags Head, North Carolina, and travel adventures with her siblings forged lasting memories that will be recounted with laughter and warmth.
A proud registered nurse, Patricia’s Franciscan spirit led her to touch the lives of many throughout her career in health care. As an Air Force wife, she welcomed the adventures that came her way, giving birth to her first three children in England. Her passion for nursing thrived later in life, particularly as she taught individuals to live independently at home. She dedicated her time not only to her patients but also to her community, volunteering with Meals on Wheels into her 70s and at the PAX River pharmacy into her 80s. Patricia was a lover of words, often found solving crossword puzzles and word games, her mind as sharp as her spirit was vibrant. She found joy in the pages of books, which she cherished deeply.
As we reflect on the beauty of her life, let us take comfort in the love she shared and the light she brought to all around her. In the words of a timeless poet, "What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Patricia Jean Petrauskas will forever be a part of our hearts.
