Patricia Anne Schaefer passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 12th, 2026, at the age of 92.
Patty was born on June 24th, 1933, and was raised in Saint Vincent's Orphanage, a catholic school for girls located in Washington D.C. At the age of 18, she married her husband Paul and started the family she dreamed of in her childhood.
After dedicating herself to raising a family, Patty returned to school, working toward a nursing degree. In her 50s, she earned her nursing license and went on to serve patients at Washington Hospital Center and St. Elizabeths Hospital.
Throughout her life, family was always Patty's highest priority, spending every weekend with her children and grandchildren. In her free time, you could often find her tending to her abundant gardens or playing tennis.
Patty leaves behind a loving family, including her eight children-Ann, Jerome, Margaret, Robert, Mary, John, Theresa, and Paul-as well as 31 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Having grown up without a family of her own, Patty spent her final years with love that surrounded her in her son's home, talking about the large family that became her greatest blessing.
Patricia's funeral service will be held on Monday June 22nd, 2026 at Saint Mary's of the Assumption Church in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Visitation will take place at 10am with a catholic service to follow at 11am. The burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, Maryland.
