Patricia Foster Shumaker

Patricia Foster Shumaker, "Patty" 75, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed suddenly Sunday, February 18, 2024. Patty was born May 7, 1948, in Washington D.C. to the late Ross and Helen Foster. 

She grew up in Oxon Hill, Maryland and graduated from Oxon Hill High School where she was a cheerleader. She was a huge Redskins Fan and an avid gardener. She loved to crochet, quilt and decorate her home. She loved her two pet cats and playing Words with Friends with her girlfriends. 

She married Maury Shumaker in 1995 after meeting at work and lived in Manassas, VA for 19 years before settling in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The highlight of her career was working at the White House under President George Bush and President Bill Clinton. 

Patricia joins in heaven her daughter Kristin T. Heisserman "Kiki", her mother and father, 5 brothers and sisters and several nieces and nephews.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband Maurice J. Shumaker, daughter Amy P. Heisserman, stepdaughters Carol Hansen and Jackie Shumaker, grandchildren Allie Byrne (Logan), Sammy Arndt (Robin), and Andy Hansen. Two great grandchildren Andie and Dylan, niece Alexandra Picon (Rick) and several other nieces and nephews. She was “Nana” to Sofia and Colin Picon, Evan and Abby Cutchins, and life long besties with Kathy Lefevre and Kathy Cromwell.

She will be remembered for her quick wit, generosity and spunkiness.

Family and friends are welcome to gather at Lee Funeral Home, 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Rd., Clinton, MD, on Thursday, February 29, 2024, from 10am with funeral services beginning at 12pm. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Rd., Clinton, MD 20735. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations in her memory to Cancer League of Colorado, PO Box 5373, Englewood, CO 80155 or cancerleague.org.
