Patricia Mae Taylor was born on Mary 4, 1948, in Washington, D.C., to the late William Sills Taylor, Sr. & Laura Veronica Thomas-Taylor. The third of seven children, she herself was a native Washingtonian by way of her parent's migrations from Raleigh Wake, N.C. & LaPlata, M.D. to that area. She carried that strength, resilience, and realness, gathered by the Spirits of these areas, with her throughout her life.
Pat was a woman who believed in working hard and showing up. She spent over 10 years at Silver Hill Cleaners, where she truly loved what she did. Later in life, she teamed up with her baby sister Judy, and together they made their mark as managers with William C. Smith.
If you knew Pat, you knew she loved her Bingo nights, especially with her best friend of more than 50 years, Judythe Collins-Richardson. But even before Bingo, there was her love for music. Nothing did her Soul better than a good ole' fashioned Love Song...listened to in the company of family and good friends, with dancing and a room full of whole hearted laughter.
And Pat...she was indeed a pistol. Quick with a comeback no matter how high or low you wanted to go, naturally funny, and never one to hold back. She had a way of expressing herself that would have you laughing before you even realized the depth of what she was saying.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughters, Veronica, DeNyra, & Rachel; 10 grandchildren: Taylor, Tyler, Tristan, Charles, Christopher, Kai, Riley, Justin, Kain, & Avrei; 3 great-grandchildren: Drew, Dieu-Donne' (DiDi), and soon to be Alani. Along with her siblings, Joyce, Thelma, William Jr., Ellen, & Judy; her special niece and nephews, Elaine & Dontrell. She now joins her parents, William and Laura Taylor; Godmother Viola Matthews who cared for her and her siblings after their mother's passing; her sister, Shirley Taylor; her grandson Christian, & special sister, Martha Thomas in eternal rest.
And if she were here, she'd probably tell us not to be crying too much...but to get it together and keep it moving.
We want to give a special thanks to her sisters Joyce & Ellen; Grandchildren Taylor, Charles, and Chris; and everyone who helped along the way. You all are and forever will be appreciated.
