Ralph Willaim Liberati Jr.

December 10, 1960 — May 14, 2026

Ralph William Liberati Jr. passed away on May 14, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on December 10, 1960, in Pittsburgh, Ralph lived a life defined by service, leadership, devotion to family, and unwavering love for those around him.

Ralph was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Alberta Zapf Liberati and Ralph William Liberati Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Mary Leopold Liberati; his son, Ralph William Liberati III of Port Orange, Florida; his daughter, Lauren Liberati of Lyndhurst, New Jersey; his sister, Margie Liberati Mitchell and her husband Clyde of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and his sister, Amy Liberati Jessloski and her husband David of McDonald, Pennsylvania, along with many extended family members, dear friends, colleagues, and those whose lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey.

Ralph dedicated his life to serving his country with honor and distinction. He proudly served 22 years in the United States Army, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel after an extraordinary military career that included numerous assignments and deployments around the world, including service in Germany, Japan, and with North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Following his military retirement, Ralph continued his service to the nation through a distinguished 21-year career with the Defense Intelligence Agency, where he retired as a Senior Executive, Level II.

While Ralph’s professional accomplishments were extraordinary, his greatest pride was always his family. He was a loving, caring, devoted, and compassionate husband and father who loved his wife and children with all his heart. His guidance, humor, wisdom, and steadfast support shaped the lives of those closest to him and left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

In his free time, Ralph found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing, woodworking, and gardening. He was also a passionate and loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Pittsburgh Steelers, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer on his hometown teams.

Ralph had a way of making people smile, often leaving them with his favorite saying: “Remember, be good. And if you can’t be good, don’t get caught.”

There are no words that can fully express how deeply Ralph will be missed. He enriched the lives of so many through his kindness, leadership, humor, and love. Though he may be gone from our sight, his legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
