Suddenly and peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2026, Raven James Glenn I slipped quietly into eternal rest.
Born on September 19, 1944, in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, Raven was the fourth of five children born to the late Willie and Mildred Glenn. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Melvin “Flat,” Willie “Sweet” Jr., Camille, and Richard.
At an early age, Raven joined Bethel Baptist Church in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, where he began developing the values of faith, family, and community that would guide his life. He graduated from Aliquippa High School in 1962 and shortly thereafter enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in July of that same year.
Following in the footsteps of his father and older brothers, Raven developed a deep love for music and singing. During his high school years, he became part of a singing group known as The Alpines. As a member of The Alpines, Raven helped pioneer a unique ministry of music within his community. The group was among the first in the area to perform at repasts and special events during a time when such performances were uncommon. Through their heartfelt harmonies and inspiring songs, The Alpines brought comfort to grieving families, uplifted audiences, and shared joy throughout their surrounding area. Their musical legacy left a lasting impact on countless lives and helped establish a tradition that continues today. Raven found great joy traveling and performing throughout Western Pennsylvania and Ohio with the group, sharing his gift and passion for music with others.
After faithfully serving his country, Raven returned home in 1966 and began working at the National Life Insurance Company in Aliquippa. That same year, he married his first wife, and from that union two children were born, Darla and Raven II.
A year later, Raven relocated to Elizabeth, New Jersey, where he pursued a career as an insurance investigator in Newark. In 1970, he moved to Maryland and began a distinguished career with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a Federal Police Officer in 1980, where he later retired as a Lieutenant after years of dedicated service.
Later in life, in 1993, he met Fordurra, who he affectionately called his “Peach Tree.” Their love blossomed over the years, and they solidified their union in marriage in December 2015.
Raven will be remembered for his love of family, music, laughter, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him. His legacy of strength, warmth, and resilience will continue to live on through those he loved.
Fondly cherishing his life and legacy are his devoted wife, Fordurra; his children, Darla, Raven II (Jennifer), and KaMyka (Antone’); stepson, Wayne (Teresa); grandchildren: Modesty and Maurice; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members
