Richard Allan McCracken

Richard Allan McCracken, 58, of Upper Marlboro, MD, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 3, 2022. Richard was born December 10, 1963 to the late Landon McCracken Jr. and Patricia Jones McCracken in Johnson City, TN and his family relocated to Capitol Heights area in his early years. Richard met his current wife, Christine McCracken, when they were teenagers and sparks flew. They found their way back to one another in 2016 and were married in 2018. Richard worked for the Boulevard Heights Volunteer Fire Department in the early 80's as an EMT and Fireman, and was on the Fire Department's Baseball team. He was valedictorian for the District of Columbia apprentice school for Plumbers and was a Journeyman with Local # 5 Plumbers and Pipefitters for 33 years, following in his father's footsteps. Richard was an avid hunter and an award winning fisherman. He was a fun person who could bring a smile to almost anyone. He would help others when asked and often did random acts of kindness for family, friends, coworkers or strangers. Richard will be remembered by his wonderful smile, his fun nature and his ability to make friends with all of those he met. Richard was preceded in death by Landon McCracken Jr. (father), Patricia McCracken (mother), and Tammy Walker (sister). He is survived by Debbie, Vickie, Shirley and Roger (siblings), Shaina and Amber (daughters), Rachel and Katherine (step daughters) and 10 grandchildren. Family and friends are welcome to gather at Lee Funeral Home, Inc. 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Rd., Clinton, MD 20735 on Thursday February 10, 2022 from 4-7pm.
