Robert Lee Scott Sr., affectionately known as “Sonnyboy,” passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, in La Plata, Maryland, at the age of 82.His passing leaves a space that can never be filled, yet his life remains a beautiful testament to love, strength, and devotion to family.
Born and raised with deep roots in the South, Robert carried with him a spirit of kindness, hard work, and quiet wisdom that touched everyone he met. He lived his life with integrity and heart — a man of principle, laughter, and generosity who found joy in simple moments and pride in the accomplishments of those he loved.
Robert leaves behind a lasting legacy through his beloved partner Velvet Norreen Johnson and their daughter Velvet Norreen Johnson II of Baltimore; his daughter Denise Scott of Texas; and his sons Anthony Scott, Dwayne Scott, and Robert Scott Jr.
His memory will also be cherished by his grandson Antonio Joseph Maurice Taylor; his sisters Gloria Sheffield and Ann Douglas (Walter); and his brother James Scott.
Robert was predeceased by his loving mother, Paulina Scott, who welcomed him home with open arms.
Family and friends will forever remember Robert’s unwavering love, his warm smile, and the way he could make everyone feel seen and valued. His presence brought light to every gathering, and his stories, laughter, and wisdom will continue to echo through generations.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at a later date, where loved ones will gather to honor the man who gave so much of himself to others.Though we will miss him deeply, his spirit will live on through the love he shared and the family he so dearly cherished.
