Ronald Alvin Harvat

December 1, 1938 — November 25, 2023

Ronald A. Harvat, 84, peacefully went to be with the Lord, Saturday, November 23,2023 at the Solomons Rehab and Nursing Center, Solomons, MD where he had been for 3 years fighting complications of Parkinson's Disease.

Ronald was born December 1,1938, the 7th child of 12 to the now deceased Daniel Harvat Sr and Florence (Gaddis) Harvat in South Bound Brook, NJ.  A 1956 graduate of Bound Brook High School, he served in the NJ National Guard until 1969.  In 1969, he moved to Bowie, MD and worked at McCalls Printing Company for many years and then the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C where he retired in 2003.

Ronald was predeceased by his brothers: Dan, Doug, Ed, Jim, and sisters: his infant twin sister, Shirley, Dotsie Rodrigo, Delores Knight, Irene Andrus, his daughter Sharon, Cynthia Harvat, and infant son Gary.  

Ronald is survived by his brother Thomas (Elaine) (Phillipsburg, NJ) and sisters: Brenda Bent (George) (Phillipsburg, NJ) and Lynn Lloyd (WV).

Ronald was married to Christine Bernadette Harvat for 58 years until her passing in 2017. He is cherished by his son Robert Harvat (Carol) (Lusby, MD) and daughter Lorraine Harvat Shepardson (Ward) (Chesapeake Beach, MD), granddaughters, Christine Welch, Jessica Commodore, Christian Shepardson, Elaina Shepardson, step granddaughter Crystal Hilton and great grandchildren, Kyleigh and Teagan Welch, Skyler Commodore and Ricky Spenser.

Burial will be in Bound Brook, NJ at Bound Brook Cemetery and will be arranged at a future date to be announced.

A wonderful loving person, husband, father and friend. Ron will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
