Sharon Cynthia Williams

July 17, 1947 — November 19, 2023

Clinton, Maryland

Sharon Cynthia (Laney) Williams, 76, of Clinton, Maryland, passed peacefully with her family by her side Sunday, November 19, 2023.  Sharon was born July 17, 1947, in Washington, D.C. to the late William Laney and Adele Strother Easley.

Sharon attended Cardozo High School, where she graduated with honors. After graduation, Sharon worked at “Ma Bell” as a Telephone Operator and went on to work for various U.S. Government agencies for years before retiring from the Department of the Army. In retirement, she went on to enjoy gardening, hanging out at their privately co-owned club, “The Bottom Line Bar and Grill” with her husband, Lee Williams. Sharon spent years traveling to see family and friends, taking trips for special events with the “Just Us” social club.  She also enjoyed watching game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune.  In fact, she and her mom, Adele, watched Wheel of Fortune every night at 7:00pm, whether in person or over the phone together and you knew better than to call her between 7:00pm and 7:30pm.

She first married at the age of nineteen to David Wyche and had her first and only child, Shari Wyche (Parker), but they later divorced.  In 1972, she met Lee Artis Williams, and they were married February 29, 1980. Lee and Sharon were married for just over 40 years before his passing in July 2020.

When Lee and Sharon got married, they settled down in Clinton, MD.  Lee, a lifetime U.S. Army Servicemen, received orders and was shipped to Germany. Sharon & Shari went with him as a family of three for many happy years.  They returned home in 1985 and resided again in Clinton permanently.  Lee’s most important job and reason for living was his wife, Sharon. They lived many happy years in retirement until health issues began to affect them both with age.

Sharon had begun to lose her memory in 2016 and was diagnosed with Dementia in 2017. After losing her husband Lee, who died of Corona Virus on July 29, 2020, she came to live with Shari for the last three and a half years.  The last 3 weeks, it was hard to watch her slip away from us, but I told her that it was “ok to leave when you’re ready and that it would hurt like hell, but I promised her that I would be ok” and “I promised to take care of Craig and Jasmin as well” she wept for me, knowing that she was getting ready to leave me. She slipped into the final phase and in the wee hours of the morning, she drifted off to sleep and went on to Glory. Sharon spent the remainder of her life surrounded by Shari, Sandra, Craig, and Jasmin.
