Susan Galliher York

Susan Galliher York, a brilliant, heartwarming, and fiercely loving woman, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, at Calvert County Hospital in Prince Frederick, Maryland. She was 69 years old.

Born on September 25, 1956, Susan was a woman of remarkable intelligence and determination. A graduate of Old Dominion University, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science in 1986. She dedicated her professional life to the healthcare field as a certified dental assistant, demonstrating exceptional competence in all areas of dental surgery.

Susan was a devoted mother and cherished grandmother whose life was defined by her generosity. Her greatest pleasure was giving to her children and caring for anyone in need. Her warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

For many years, Susan shared her life and companionship with her beloved partner, David Billings.

Susan is survived by her four children, all of whom she shared with her former husband, Jeffery York: Jeffery, Joseph, Katherine, and Allison. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and to whom she dedicated much of her time.

She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Lisa, who passed away on June 11, 2017, at the age of 34. Their reunion brings comfort to those who loved them both.

She was never happier than when she was fishing on the river or spending long, sunny days at the beach, surrounded by the natural world she had studied and the family she adored.

Her vibrant spirit and enduring love will be deeply missed and always remembered.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Susan's life at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, Maryland 20736 on Thursday, April 9, 2026 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Jesus the Divine Word Catholic Church, 885 Cox Road, Huntingtown, MD 20639 on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 10:00 am. Interment will be private.
