Thomas William Zetty, aged 88, of Camp Springs, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 17, 2026. Born on January 22, 1937, in Tunnelton, West Virginia, to the late Wonda and Noah Zetty, Thomas, fondly known as Tom, left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
A standout athlete at Tunnelton High School, Tom excelled in basketball, baseball, and football before graduating in 1955. Following his high school education, he dutifully served his country in the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1961.
Tom was the pillar of his family and a devoted husband to the love of his life, Barbara (Watkins) Zetty, with whom he shared 68 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they raised their two children, Thomas Zetty and Terrence Zetty, in Maryland. His commitment to his family and community was unwavering.
In his professional life, Tom epitomized dedication and service, retiring from the federal government after a distinguished 42-year career. Even in retirement, his dedication to his community persisted, as he continued to serve as an active member on the credit union board until his passing.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife, daughter-in-laws Teresa Zetty and Susan Zetty; grandchildren, Richard Zetty, Jessica (Eddie) Smith, Joshua (Jordan) Zetty, and Diamond Zetty; cherished great-grandchildren, Kylie Smith, Lily Zetty, Kodie Smith, Levi Zetty, Brook Zetty, and Yale Thomas Zetty; his sister, Darla (Darwin) Funk; and brothers-in-law, Melvin Williams and Paul (Sharon) Watkins.
He was preceded in death by his two sons, Thomas Zetty and Terrence Zetty; his grandson Zachary Zetty; his sister Patty Williams; and other family members and dear friends.
Tom leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others, which will be cherished and remembered by all who had the honor of knowing him. Tom found solace and community at Bethany Christian Church, enjoyed precious moments with his family, and dedicated himself to aiding those in need throughout his life. His memory will live on through the countless lives he touched and the love he shared with all those around him.
