Toni Peterson

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Toni G. Peterson on December 26, 2025, and mourn the loss of her steady presence, quiet humor, and unwavering love.

Born on May 8, 1949, in Wilmington, North Carolina, Toni was raised with the care and guidance of devoted family in both North Carolina and Washington, D.C. Those early years shaped the strength and grace that carried her throughout her life.

Toni was a devoted mother to Maurice Simpson, Jr. and Leslie Wade, and a proud, loving grandmother to Ayrik Simpson, Aryanna Simpson, and Bryce Wade, her “Joy.” Family was her anchor, and she showed her love through constancy, support, and simply being there.

She built a long and respected career with C&P Telephone, later Verizon, where her reliability and problem-solving skills earned lasting friendships before her retirement in 2001.

For 40 years, Toni shared a life of companionship with her partner, Charles Owens, in Clinton, Maryland. She found comfort in her home and in life’s quiet pleasures, including watching butterflies from her window. A football fan with an independent streak, she cheered for the Kansas City Chiefs simply because she liked the quarterback.

Toni is survived by her partner, Charles, her children, Maurice, Jr. (Maria) and Leslie, and her beloved grandchildren, Bryce, Ayrik, and Aryanna. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.

Though her passing was unexpected, her love and presence remain deeply woven into the lives of her family.
