Master Sergeant (Ret.) Tyrone Anthony Ligon, 79, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2026, while residing at Mallard Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cambridge, Maryland.
He was born on June 30, 1946, to Irene (Ligon) Jeffers and Durell Parham in Nottoway County, Virginia. Tyrone grew up in Crewe, Virginia and graduated from Luther H. Foster High School in 1965.
That same year, he joined the United States Air Force. This led him to serve during the Vietnam War. He continued to serve his country in the United States Army until his retirement in 1998. His military career reflected his courage, resilience, and dedication to something greater than himself.
Tyrone lived life on his terms and loved to be behind the wheel. He pursued a career as a long-distance tractor-trailer driver and worked as an armored truck driver for Brinks.
In 2000, he transitioned to a successful IT career with the federal government. During this time, he earned his associate’s degree in 2005 and remained dedicated to public service until his retirement in 2014.
Tyrone and Nancy (Jackson) thoughtfully nurtured their relationship over 40 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they celebrated the arrival of their beloved daughter, Chanel, in 1980, who became their pride and joy. In his final years, Tyrone and Nancy discovered a renewed sense of love, support, and family, which brought them comfort and companionship during that time.
During his retirement, he found immense joy in traveling by RV and discovering new places alongside family and friends. The open road brought him a sense of freedom, allowing him to fully embrace life’s simple pleasures. His adventures not only reflected his curious spirit but also highlighted the deep bonds he cherished with loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his mother and his brothers William Johnson, Wilbur Johnson, Herbert Johnson (Audrey), James Ligon, and Leon Ligon.
Tyrone is lovingly remembered by his devoted daughter Chanel and his lifelong partner, Nancy. He also leaves behind a cherished circle of family and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.
Tyrone will forever hold a special place in our hearts for the invaluable lessons he imparted and the joy he brought into our lives with his laughter, warm smile, and sharp wit. He was a devoted husband and father, a steadfast friend, a proud veteran, and a remarkable man who touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will continue to inspire and comfort us.
