Robey, Walace H. (Wally) Age 68On Sunday, April 8, 2001. A retired heavy duty mechanic and John Deere Farmer died at his home in Lusby, MD after a long time illness. Beloved son of the late Herman and Catherine Robey. Wally is survived by his loving and devoted daughter Debbie Nibbe of Lusby; sons Donald Robey of Lusby and Jeffrey (Larry) Robey, Sr. of Glen Burnie; brother of William O. Robey; grandfather of Britney and Jeffrey Robey, Jr, and Jessica Reichardt. Robey 68, of Lusby, died April 8, 2001, at home.He was born on Thursday, June 9, 1932, in LaPlata to the late Kathleen Caywood Robey and William Herman Robey.Mr. Robey was a native of Prince George's County and a 1951 graduate of Gwynn Park High School. He studied agriculture.He was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1955. He received his training with the 101st airborne division in Fort Jackson, S.C. During and after he served in Korea, his interest in heavy machinery, tanks, trucks and agriculture continued to grow. He worked as a heavy duty machanic for over 45 years, with companies throughout Maryland, Pepsi Cola, Wonder Bread, M & M Fleet, Bell Equipment, B Frank Joy, and Fort Myers Construction as a heavy duty mechanic. He was considered a "John Deere Man" by his family and friends.After working each day, Mr. Robey would spend his evening and weekends farming either his parent's farm in Brandywine or later in years, his farm on Route 450. Mr. Robey was forced to retire after an auto accidentHe was a member and also participated in all John Deere farm shows throughout the region; Lancaster Farming of Pennsyslvania: The Delmarva Farmer, Mid-Atlantic Region; Green Magazine; John Deere Enthusiasts Club; Brandywine Lions Club; Southern Maryland Farm Festival; Farm Heritage Festival; Prince George's County; Successful Farming and Progressive Farmer. He has received many awards for being a part of the John Deere heritage throughout his life.Mr. Robey was also a member of American Legion Post 274, Lusby and Veterans of Foreign War Post 7250, PennsyslvaniaMr. Robey leaves behind his loving and devoted daughter, Debbie Nibbe of Lusby, sons, Donald Robey of Lusby and Jeffrey "Larry" Robey, Sr. of Glen Burnie; and a brother William Robey of Fort Wayne, Ind., his grandchildren, Brittany Robey, Jeffrey Robey, Jr., and Jessica Reichardt.
