It is with great sadness that the family of Wanda Faye Jones (Craven) of Huntingtown, Maryland, announces her peaceful passing on May 13, 2026, at the age of 80.
Wanda was born on March 23, 1946, in High Point, North Carolina, to Doris (Swaim) and Everette Craven. Raised on a family farm, she developed a lifelong dedication to helping others, which eventually led her to a career in nursing. She was known for occasionally skipping school to attend the premiere of an Elvis Presley movie and always looked forward to yearly vacations "with the girls" to the Outer Banks.
In 1966, Wanda met the love of her life Robert "Bob" Jones, Jr., while working in a hospital emergency room. Bob, a firefighter, swept her off her feet while she earned her nursing degree, and the two were married in 1967.
Devoted to both her family and career, Wanda was a loving mother to Robert "Bobby" Jones, III and Christopher "Chris" Jones (Kimberly). She was a proud grandmother to Selena Jones and sister to Craig Craven (Donna).
Although a private person, Wanda found joy in life's simple pleasures-romance novels, the beach, dominoes, crossword puzzles, Elvis, Garth Brooks, Diet Dr Pepper, the color purple, and, of course, Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing.
The family asks for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Wanda's memory may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake. The compassion and care shown by her aide and nurse will always be cherished and remembered.
