In Loving Memory of William Mason Lloyd, Jr.

With heavy hearts and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of William “Bill” Mason Lloyd, Jr., who entered into eternal rest on September 14, 2026, at the age of 96.

Bill was born on February 16, 1930, in Buffalo, New York, to William Mason Lloyd, Sr. and Bertha Marie Taylor. Throughout his long and remarkable life, he was known for his love of music, his enjoyment of golf, and the kindness and warmth he shared with those around him. Whether spending time with family, enjoying a favorite song, or sharing stories and laughter, Bill touched the lives of many and created memories that will be cherished forever.

Bill was a proud Army veteran who served during the Korean War. After his service, he obtained his graduate degree in Music Education from Boston University. He went on to become a well-loved music and band director at Gardner High School while also conducting the Simplex Minutemen, a junior drum and bugle corps, from the late 1950s to the mid-1960s in Gardner, Massachusetts. He and his GHS band became so popular that they performed at Washington, D.C.'s 1962 Cherry Blossom Festival. With endless energy and talent, he also played in jazz clubs around New England during those years. The trumpet and stand-up bass were his favorite instruments, which he played at home with piano and vocal accompaniment, much to his family's delight. He also enjoyed bowling and a good game of billiards with some of his children and others. He especially enjoyed listening to military band music and, later in life, counted the Virginia Grand Military Band among his favorites.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Connie Lloyd; his children, Stephen Lloyd, Wendy Lloyd, Rebecca Orcutt and her husband, Gary, Jeff Lloyd, Greg Lloyd and his wife, Eliza, and Kristin Wylie and her husband, Justin; his stepson, Chester Timoteo and his wife, Wilma; his niece, Deborah Hildreth-Pisarcik; and his treasured grandchildren, Melissa Kujala, Andrew Lloyd Tibbetts, Regan Lloyd, Hannah Lloyd, Ryan Timoteo, Wyatt Timoteo, Andrew Lloyd, and Harrison Lloyd. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A funeral service will be held on September 26, 2026, at Lee Funeral Home, Inc., 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Road, Clinton, Maryland. Viewing is from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, followed by Funeral service at 5 PM.

While our hearts mourn his loss, we find comfort in our faith and in knowing that William is now at peace in the presence of the Lord. We give thanks for the many years we were blessed to share with him, the love he gave so freely, and the legacy he leaves behind. May God's grace provide comfort to all who grieve, and may William's memory continue to be a blessing to those who loved him.
