William "Ray" Martin

William Ray Martin, known to many as Ray, passed away on January 30, 2026, at Baylor Scott & White Centennial Medical Center in Frisco, Texas. He was born on January 20, 1945, in Lake City, Tennessee.

Ray attended Lake City High School in Lake City, Tennessee, and later Chamberlain Vocational High School in Washington, D.C. Early in his working life, he was employed as an iron worker. During that time, he attended evening classes at Control Data Institute, where he graduated with a degree in computer technology. Ray went on to devote the majority of his career to computer technology management, a field in which he was both skilled and dedicated.

Ray enjoyed an active life and had many interests, including skiing, hiking, golfing, biking, and traveling. He was also an avid sports fan, with football holding a special place at the top of his list. Ray had a deep love for his canine companions throughout his life, including Hanna, his sweet Sheltie; Huggie, his independent yet lovable Schnauzer; and Snuffy, his beautiful Afghan.

Ray proudly served his country in the Army Reserve National Guard from 1963 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1969.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Cates Martin and Mary Ruth Martin, and by his sisters, Phyllis Walpole and Dorothy Woodward.

Ray is survived by his beloved wife, Lois Trudo Martin; his daughter, Kelly Martin Green, and son-in-law, Stephen Green; his cherished grandchildren, Anthony Martin Green and William David Green; his niece, Robin Woodward Cravey; and his nephews, Neal Woodward and Eric Handlon. Ray will be remembered for his dedication to family, his love of learning and technology, his passion for sports and the outdoors, and the quiet loyalty he showed to those he loved.
