Lee Family


As a 5th generation funeral director, Bill has been involved in the family business for over 50 years. While in high school, he helped with many of the jobs that always needed to be done in the Funeral Home. In 1966, Bill graduated from Saint John’s College High School in Washington, D.C. In 1970, Bill received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from St. Leo College in St. Leo, FL. After college, he attended the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service, Inc. and graduated cume laude in 1971. He subsequently received licenses in the District of Columbia in 1972 and in the state of Maryland in 1979. He has served in all chairs of the Funeral Directors Association of Metropolitan Washington, D.C., culminating as president from 1979 to 1980. In May of 1994, he earned his Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP). Bill has also served on all chairs of the Maryland State Funeral Directors Association, Inc., including being a board member and serving on all the executive chairs. He is a native Washingtonian who makes his home in Chesapeake Beach, MD, Calvert County.


Mike is the General Manager of Lee Funeral Homes and a sixth-generation funeral director, continuing a proud family tradition that spans over a century. With more than 30 years of experience in funeral service, Michael brings deep-rooted dedication, compassion, and a genuine commitment to the families he serves.
Michael’s connection to the profession began early in life. As a child, he fondly remembers spending time at the funeral home, often waiting for his father to finish work—experiences that quietly shaped his understanding of the importance of care, presence, and community. In 1988, he officially joined the family business as a part-time summer employee, solidifying a path he had been walking all along.
After graduating from Northern High School in Owings, Maryland, in 1992, Michael earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Saint Leo College in Florida in 1996. He went on to complete his formal funeral service education at the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, graduating in 1997, the same year he became a licensed funeral director.
Throughout his career, Michael has been a dedicated member of the Maryland Funeral Directors Association, Inc., the National Funeral Directors Association, and the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. He is also a licensed insurance agent, helping families plan ahead through pre-funded funeral arrangements—an extension of his belief in thoughtful, compassionate care.
“Being a sixth-generation funeral director is both humbling and deeply meaningful,” Michael shares. “It’s an honor to serve the families of Southern Maryland in their most tender moments. There is no greater responsibility than helping others find peace and comfort during life’s most difficult times.”
Michael makes his home in Owings, Maryland, in Calvert County with his wife, Denice, and their three sons: Andrew, Nathan, and Matthew. His family and his community remain at the heart of everything he does.


Kitty graduated from the Academy of the Holy Cross in Kensington, MD and and attended Immaculata Junior College. 5th generation in funeral service, she has been employed at the funeral home for the past 23 years. She grew up in a family serving the public in their time of need. As a part of the Lee family, she continues to serve as Corporate Secretary and Office Manager. She is married with 3 daughters and resides in Calvert County, Huntingtown, Maryland.
Pre-Need


As an established mortician with over 30 years of experience in the profession, Kathleen brings a wealth of strengths and skills to the table with each family. Working with grieving families proves to be a delicate and challenging service career, one that takes many years to appreciate and build upon. Throughout her career, she has continued to broaden her education with the latest advancements in the field of funeral service. She works confidently with families of varying needs and challenges. She has also assumed the duties and responsibilities of a Maryland State Life Insurance Agent, possessing the required education to provide the life insurance products to fund pre-planned funeral arrangements.
With an unbridled passion for life, her family is her true anchor. Her husband oves to bring out her adventourous side by riding free on their Harley or Donzi. Her always little, but big girl, loves to delight her with trips to the spa and sharing the spiritual and natural side side of life. Then there is art. Her son is the real artist but has the patience of a saint when helping her to develop her everchanging creative spirit. Then there are the grandchildren. They are the landlord of her time with them. What they want, she wants. Travel, hiking, biking, boating, kyacking and a deep afinity for anywhere water fills in the cracks.


Jayce was born and raised in Calvert County and currently resides in Lusby, Maryland. She began her career in funeral service in 2022 and brings a deep passion for helping others during their most difficult times. Jayce is the proud mother of two amazing children and a loving grandmother to one grandchild. In her free time, she enjoys spending time at the beach, taking trips with her daughter, and visiting her son who serves in the United States Army.
Lee Calvert Staff




Stephanie was born and raised in Prince George’s County and brings a strong sense of community and dedication to her role at Lee Funeral Home Calvert. Prior to joining the funeral home, she spent 20 years working at a local printing company, where she developed a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
Over the years, Stephanie has lived in Charles and St. Mary’s counties and now calls Calvert County home, where she resides with her husband, David. She is a proud mother of three, grandmother to four beautiful grandchildren, and a great-grandmother to one.
Stephanie enjoys spending time outdoors, with a particular love for kayaking and golf. She is also an avid animal lover, especially fond of dogs and horses.


Christopher Steckowski was born and raised in St. Mary’s County and now resides in Lusby, MD with his wife Katie. Chris has worked for Lee Funeral Homes since 2020, starting in Clinton and now at our Owings location as a funeral assistant. Chris has 2 children and 2 stepchildren. He enjoys working and owns his own ice cream truck which keeps him and his family busy in the summer months.


Betty came to Lee Funeral Home in 2010. She is often the first person you meet upon entering the funeral home. Betty provides the kind of hospitality that is there to meet the diverse needs of those who walk through the doors at Lee Funeral Home. Betty has also been a constant presence assisting in the success of our preplanning division. She cordially greets and engages with those attending our educational seminars. Betty’s pride resides with her son and extended family. The simplest pleasures in life bring great joy to her while entertaining with family and friends. She loves to read and cook. Betty has an uncanny ability to share happiness in her daily activities and her pleasant personality is contagious to everyone she meets.


Wayne is a Maryland native and a Calvert County resident for over 30 years. After a 20 year career with a state agency, he came to Lee Funeral Home Calvert in 2013. He presently works as a Funeral Home Associate; assisting with funerals and as a host. Wayne is an active member of Chesapeake Church in Huntingtown, MD, is married and has one married daughter. His main goal is to be of service to all.


Lee Clinton Staff



Katrina has over 18 years working for the Lee Family.


Alexa is a dedicated funeral service professional who began her academic and vocational journey at Broadneck High School in Annapolis, MD. She subsequently enrolled in the Mortuary Science program at the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC), where she earned her Associate of Applied Science degree in 2017. Alexa commenced her professional career with Lee Funeral Homes, where she cultivated her passion for providing compassionate and respectful care to grieving families.
Driven by a commitment to continued professional development, Alexa pursued further education at West Virginia University. In 2021, she returned to Maryland and rejoined the Lee Funeral Home family, where she continues to uphold the highest standards of service and empathy in her field.
In her personal time, Alexa enjoys traveling, baking, sewing, and caring for her pets, pursuits that reflect her creativity and nurturing spirit.


Melanie was born and raised in California and now calls Maryland home after serving 12 years in the U.S. Navy. Following her military career, she transitioned into funeral service, driven by a deep sense of purpose and compassion. She earned her degree in Mortuary Science from the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) in 2020 and also holds an associate’s degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences from Yuba Community College in California.
Currently, Melanie is nearing completion of a master’s degree in European History, reflecting her passion for learning and historical studies. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys an active lifestyle with her spouse and their three cats and plays roller derby in her spare time.
Melanie brings a thoughtful and compassionate presence to her work in funeral service, shaped by a rich and varied background. Originally from California, she spent 12 years serving in the United States Navy, where she developed a deep commitment to service and earned associate degrees in Russian (2007) and Persian-Farsi (2011).
After her military career, Melanie transitioned into the funeral profession, driven by a desire to support others during life’s most challenging moments. She earned her degree in Mortuary Science from the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) in 2020 and later completed a Bachelor of Science in General Studies, graduating cum laude in 2021. She is currently completing a master’s degree in European History, continuing her lifelong passion for learning.
Now living in Maryland with her spouse and three cats, Melanie enjoys an active and well-rounded life. When she’s not working or studying, she participates in roller derby—a sport that reflects both her energy and sense of community.





Ron was born in February 1943 in Washington, D.C. and completed his studies in Commercial Art at the Corcoran School of Art at George Washington University in 1963. That same year, he began what would become a lifetime of dedicated service in the funeral industry.
Ron spent over 28 years at Wilhelm Funeral Home in Suitland, Maryland, where he served as Mortuary Maintenance Director. His unwavering commitment and work ethic made him an integral part of the operation until the retirement of Mr. Wilhelm and the subsequent sale of the business.
In August 1991, Ron brought his deep experience and steady presence to Lee Funeral Home, where he continues to serve as Maintenance Director. With more than six decades of continuous service in the profession, Ron exemplifies dedication, consistency, and loyalty—qualities that have earned him the respect of colleagues and families alike.
His enduring contribution to funeral service stands as a testament to his strong character and genuine care for the work he does every day.


Leonor moved from Virginia to Maryland in 1989 and has been a dedicated and hardworking member of our team since 2005. Known for her meticulous attention to detail and kind demeanor, she is a joy to work with and brings a positive spirit to the workplace.
Married since 1977, Leonor finds her greatest joy in her family—her three children and three grandchildren. She also enjoys the company of her two playful Yorkie-Russell terriers, who keep her on her toes during walks and park visits.
Outside of work, Leonor cherishes time spent with loved ones, traveling, gardening, and grilling. Her deep love for family and her zest for life are evident in everything she does.


John grew up in Southern Maryland, first in Upper Marlboro before settling in Calvert County, where he continues to call home. He is retired from SMECO, where he proudly served as a Lineman, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to the community.
John has been married to the love of his life for over 37 years. He is a devoted father of five and a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren. For more than two decades, John actively coached youth football, baseball, and basketball, pouring his heart into supporting and mentoring his children.
Today, he finds great joy in cheering on his grandchildren from the sidelines. John resides in the Long Beach community of St. Leonard, Maryland, and is a faithful member of SouthPoint Church in Lusby. His dedication to family, community, and faith is evident in all he does.




In Memoriam


Jeffrey was a licensed funeral director in Maryland. He held a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Maryland. Jeffrey was a member of the National Association of accountants and the Student Mentoring Program. He also held a Mortuary Science Associates Degree from Catonsville Community College. Jeffrey was a member of the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and he was a licensed EMT. Jeffrey joined Lee Funeral Home in January of 2006. He passed away June of 2024
