James Constantine Efantis, Jr.

1947 — 2026

James Constantine (Jimmy) “Hot Rod” Efantis, Jr. of Huntingtown, MD passed away on January 24, 2026 at his home with his loving family at his side. He was born on June 8, 1947 in Maryland to the late Margaret (Oliver) Savitsky and the late James Efantis, Sr.

Jimmy was known for his caring and kind heart. He was an old soul and enjoyed helping everyone, never expecting anything in return. He never met anyone that he wasn’t willing to lend a helping hand. He loved his family and enjoyed spending as much time with all of them much as he could. The love of his life and companion was his favorite friend, Griffin, a mixed-bred dog that he adopted. He never went anywhere without him and everyone in the neighborhood looked for them taking their daily walks. Griffin sadly left this world last year. He worked for Prince George’s County Board of Education for 40+ years before retiring, everyone there affectionately called him “Hot Rod” because he loved to ride his bike everywhere.

Jimmy is survived by his siblings, Theodore Efantis of Huntingtown, MD, Charles Savitsky of Laurel, MD, Darleen Johnson-Taylor (Robbie Hall) of Hollywood, MD, and Roger Adams (Susan) of Huntingtown, MD. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. In addition to his parents, Jimmy is also preceded in death by his brother, William Efantis and his Step-Father Charles Savitsky, Sr. Family will receive friends on Friday, February 13, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Lee Funeral Home 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Road Clinton, MD 20735. Interment will be private.

Serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Efantis, David Johnson, William Taylor, Patrick Williamson, Larry Barnes, and Roger Adams. Memorial contributions may be made to Charles County Animal Care (formally Tri-County Animal Shelter), 6707 Animal Shelter Road Hughesville, MD 20637 and to Hospice of Calvert County, PO Box 838 4559 Sixes Road Prince Frederick, MD 20678.
