Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery is 112 acres and conducts more than 1,000 burials per year. It is the final resting place for more than 30,000 Maryland veterans and their eligible dependents. Established in July 1978, the cemetery is anticipated to provide over 50,000 burial sites.

This 103-acre site is located near the peaceful Severn River residential community. Opened in July 1978, the cemetery includes over 28,000 burial sites, but with further development, it should provide more than 48,000 burial plots.

Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery


Dorchester County

Located two miles south of Preston and about five miles northwest of Hurlock, Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery opened in June 1976 and was donated by the citizens of Dorchester County. Originally a 51-acre wheat field, the cemetery’s design is unique. The layout is based on a system of radials and concentric circles centered on the American flag in the plaza.

Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery

The most active of Maryland’s five veteran cemeteries, Garrison Forest conducts more than 1,100 burial every year. Since its opening in November 1983, more than 48,000 veterans and their dependents have selected this cemetery as a final resting place. Located in Owings Mills, the site consists of 17 acres bounded by woodlands.

Opened in June 1981, Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery consists of 27 acres set within the Rocky Gap State Park. Because of its beautiful mountain backdrop, the cemetery is quite picturesque.
